Key people
He has worked on numerous high-profile projects including WestConnex Rozelle Interchange in Sydney, Melbourne’s West Gate Tunnel, Brisbane Airport link and the Waterview Connection in Auckland.
Prior to co-founding Surex in 2004, Allan held senior positions at John Holland, Hard & Forester and Transfield Obayashi.
Originally from New Zealand, Allan holds a Certificate of Engineering from Waikato Institute of Technology and worked with MT Group at the start of his career on Denmark’s Store Baelt Crossing Tunnel.
For Allan the most rewarding aspect of his work is working with the latest innovations in the construction industry and developing the next generation of tunnel surveyors.

Prior to co-founding Surex in 2004, Cameron held senior positions at organisations such as AMEC, Hard & Forester and Transfield Obayashi.
Cameron is a graduate of the University of Southern Queensland and commenced his career with Murphy Group as a junior Tunnel Surveyor.
He also sits on the Executive Team of Consulting Surveyors National, which advocates the interests of the Australian surveying industry to government and the wider community.
Cameron’s passionate about bringing together people with diverse experiences and perspectives to work on great projects.
Lara has been with Surex since the company was formed and plays a lead role in our major control works, gyroscope activities and 3D industrial measurement surveys.
She is a Survey Manager currently based in Sydney, where she is responsible for establishing primary surface control networks for major tunneling projects. Lara has been engaged on numerous high-profile projects along the East Coast of Australia.
Lara carries out verification surveys by way of gyroscopic surveys to verify tunnel direction and accuracy.
She also conducts 3D industrial measurement surveys providing quality control for TBM projects measuring moulds and segments using 3D Laser Trackers and specialised Metrology software.
She holds a Bachelor of Surveying (Hons) from the University of New South Wales and early in her career worked on significant infrastructure projects such as the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and Bennelong Point Parking Station.
Currently a Senior Surveyor on the Sydney Metro City & South West transport project, Luke has previously worked on Brisbane Airport Link road and Perth’s City Link Rail.
Luke holds an Associate Diploma of Surveying from Sydney Institute of Technology.
Prior to joining Surex in 2005, he worked as a seismic surveyor in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
At Surex he’s passionate about creating an environment where his team can develop and thrive.
Currently a Senior Surveyor on the WestConnex Rozelle Interchange in Sydney, he has also worked with Surex on the Sydney Metro public transport project and the WestConnex M4 East Road tunnel.
Subhasis holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Manav Bharti University and a Diploma in Survey Engineering from the West Bengal Survey Institute. He has worked extensively on large scale infrastructure projects in India, Singapore and Qatar.
Subhasis focuses on establishing strong relationships with both clients and service providers. He manages all phases of a project to ensure safety and quality are paramount, and is passionate about training, developing and monitoring his team to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
Currently a Senior Surveyor on Sydney’s WestConnex Rozelle Interchange project, she has previously worked on the Sydney Metro City & South West public transport project and Melbourne’s Eastlink motorway.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering in Surveying & Spatial Information Systems (Hons) from the University of New South Wales, Brooke joined Surex working on Sydney’s Lane Cove Tunnel.
At Surex Brooke excels at managing the various stakeholders on site so everyone focuses on the same goal.
Joining Surex in 2009, he is currently a Senior Surveyor on Sydney’s WestConnex Rozelle Interchange. Previously he has worked on projects in Sydney, Brisbane and Malaysia including the Sydney Metro City & South West public transport project, Brisbane Airport Link and Kuala Lumpur’s SMART Tunnel.
Patrick graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Surveying & Mapping Science (Hons) from the University of East London and commenced his career working on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link between Stratford and London’s St Pancras station.
At Surex he takes pride in being the in-house expert on all things survey software related. He enjoys the challenge of learning new skills and completing challenging tasks when under pressure. For him, keeping pace with rapidly changing surveying technology is vital to staying ahead of the game.
Patrick believes “Every job is a self-portait of the person who did it, autograph your work with excellence’’.
Currently a Senior Surveyor on the Brisbane Cross River Rail, he has previously worked on the WestConnex Rozelle Interchange in Sydney, the Metro City & South West transport project and Brisbane’s Airport Link Brisbane.
Steffen is a graduate of Dresden’s University of Technology and has worked extensively across Germany and Australia in a variety of roles.
In addition to his site management responsibilities, he plays an active role training and mentoring employees when they first join the Surex team.
Currently a Senior Surveyor on Melbourne’s Westgate Tunnel, he has previously worked on high-profile infrastructure projects in Malaysia, Laos, Hong Kong and Australia.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Geomatic Engineering and Science (Surveying) from Malaysia’s University of Technology (UTM) and commenced his career with Gamuda in Kuala Lumpur. He later returned to UTM to complete a Master of Science (Land Administration and Development).
Prior to joining Surex in 2019 he worked at a variety of organisations across the region including BMD Group in Brisbane and Samsung C&T’s operations in Hong Kong.
Jack loves to take collaborative approach to solve complex surveying problems. He is also a Member of Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (MCInstCES) United Kingdom and Member of Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) Australia.
Thomas is a Certified Engineering Surveyor with 18+ years’ experience in tunnel and civil surveying.
Currently a Senior Surveyor on the Brisbane Cross River Rail, his previous work includes the Sydney Metro public transport network and Sydney’s WestConnex Stage 1B.
He holds a Bachelor of Surveying (Honours) from Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma in Geographic Information Science from Curtin University.
Prior to joining Surex in 2016, Thomas held roles at Bechtel Corporation in their oil, gas and chemical division.
At Surex Thomas takes the lead on developing in-house software to solve project-specific problems. His skills include establishing control networks to meet the rigours of underground navigation and the complex nature of navigating TBMs, particularly beneath urban environments, with a keen focus on exceeding project deliverables.
He is currently a Senior Surveyor on the Sydney Metro City & South West transport project, and has previously worked on the WestConnex Stage 1B motorway and the Brisbane Airport Link.
Reto holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying) from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and has worked on major infrastructure projects across Australia, Papa New Guinea and Singapore.
At Surex he takes pride in maintaining accurate control networks both above and below ground to achieve outstanding break-through results.
